You deserve protection online, no matter what device or operating system you are using. Third-party testing labs AV-Comparatives and AV-TEST are both independent organizations dedicated to helping consumers make informed choices in the marketplace. They examine and test cybersecurity software, then report back to the public on whether or not the products do everything they claim to do. Among the types of software regularly tested are Windows antivirus, Mac antivirus, and Android security. Both labs use thousands of real malware samples found in the wild.
AV-TEST conducts numerous product studies, including the three named above as well as various IoT security products. They test some for business use and some for home use. And, in the latest AV-TEST study for Windows, Avast Free Antivirus was put through protection, performance, and usability tests throughout May and June this year. Tested on both a standard PC and a high-end PC with a potential perfect score of 18, Avast scored 17.5 and 18 respectively, earning it TOP PRODUCT status. We are proud to report that our antivirus engine consistently scores highly in these objective tests.
AV-Comparatives performs more specific tests to examine particular features. Some of their common studies are anti-phishing tests, performance tests, malware detection tests, malware removal tests, and real-world protection tests. This last is their most complex and comprehensive test. It creates real-world environments, replicating the most plausible processes by which a computer or device would come across malware.
We are very proud that Avast products are frequent subjects of these studies, and the strength of our software speaks for itself in the awards we earn month after month. Unless the test requires something different, we always submit Avast Free Antivirus as the product to be tested because it is the basis of all our cybersecurity antivirus products, and we keep hundreds of millions of users protected with it.
