This Wednesday, we released a new program update for avast!, version number 5.0.507. It brings a fair amount of fixes and new features (details here) and also 7 new language packs. Namely, the following languages were added:

This makes the current list of languages supported by avast 5 reach the number of 27:
- Bulgarian
- Chinese Simplified

- Czech
- Dutch
- English
- Estonian
- Finnish
- French
- German
- Greek

- Portuguese (Portugal)
- Russian
- Slovak
- Slovenian
- Spanish
- Swedish
- Turkish
- Ukrainian
- Vietnamese
(list is alphabetically sorted)
As you can see, we’re devoted to making avast! available in all parts of the world. And the next program update, which is probably due in a month or so, will add even more (including some of the “right-to-left” ones), so if your language is not supported yet, please stay tuned.
It is also worth mentioning that most of the translations were done by you, our dear users and community members, on a completely voluntary basis. I’d like to take this opportunity and say a big Thanks to everyone who helped translating, proofreading or testing the packages.
On a side note, I’d like to also thank our users for upgrading to the new builds so fast. For example, we’re now less than 48 hours after version 5.0.507 was released, and yet, over half of our v5 user base is already running it. Now that’s fast… Keep up the good work.

After updating to the 5.0.507 version, I am having problems loading web pages. I tried turning Avast off and the pages load. Is there a way to go back to the previous version or is there a setting I can change to fix this problem?
Hi Wendy, this is typically caused by a 3rd party firewall preventing the AvastSvc.exe process from accessing the Internet. Are you running a firewall that may be responsible for this? If so, please check its settings.
Also, to get a prompt response to this (and any other) issue I strongly recommend heading to our online support forums http://forum.avast.com where you will usually be assisted in a few minutes after posting the question.
Thanks.
Well, it seems nearly every mistake I had pointed out in the forums has been corrected in the French translation – that’s neat !
One thing, though : In French, all language names should be masculine, e.g. “Français” instead of “Française”, “Anglais” instead of “Anglaise”, and so on.
after updation loading page error occur..

hello all,
Thank you so much for making avast accessible again. I’m going to try this tonight. My question is:
Do i need to do anything to make it accessible? Which screen reader does it work best with?
Thanks so much again for your help,
Chris
Hello,
if I understand your question well. Default settings for program update is set to manual in order to lower the load on our servers.
Hello
The license does not update with the French version.
Positron-libre
I have a suggestion:
In version 4.8 of Avast notice appeared in the center of the screen each time the user had to update the program when there was a new version of the program. This type of notification no longer appears in version 5.0. Only one learns that a new version of the program when you click on the area of Avast that turns the clock near the computer or click on Avast icon to open the interface to operate the program.
I think it would be good to include these notifications in the center of the computer screen, because there are many people who have a computer, but do not know how to use antivirus and never reviewed, let alone operate by itself, as in the case of young children are only dedicated to play on computers and people who can not antivirus or not interested in the subject.
I tell my family I have Avast installed on their computers, but they only use the computer and Avast works by itself. They never handled or scanned, the same behavior as young children have family members that have Avast installed on their computers.
So I think important to notice in the middle of the screen, because it orders that the computer via a message in the middle of the screen, that if my family do not understand the issue of protection against malware, and not interested.
Surely they must have millions of people worldwide who are so, which would facilitate enormously a notification through the screen that says something like Avast antivirus need to restart the system, to install the new update of the program. Click here.
Excuse my English, because it’s bad. Hopefully I’ve understood.
Summary: Notifications in the center of the screen of computers to update Avast program focused on people who do not understand the virus or not interested in the topic of antivirus.

I believe that Persian (Farsi) is one of the languages that’s currently under preparation… right-to-left support was a bit hard to implement, but it’s almost done now (this applies to Arabic, Hebrew and few other languages as well).

Hello, I am a qualified translator for Serbian and English language and would like to be helpful and participate in translating into Serbian
Greenlandic language (Eskimo/Inuit) is registered as an endangered language by UN because the population is only about 56.000 individuals and therefor must have a high priority by this team, if you could get some help by the Self Government Department of Language in Greenland (http://www.oqaasileriffik.gl/content/us/staff – contact person Katti Frederiksen)whom I have personally notified on these matters.
Our land which is an island in the high arctic has been controlled by the State of Denmark and The Royal Kingdom of Denmark has had monopoly for about 300 years, to our borders and all interest has therefor been to their economically benefit.
But last year we got to our own Self Government and from 1. January 2010 our official language was changed from Danish to Greenlandic.
We also are NOT a member of EU like the State of Denmark and we belong to the North American Continent where many sites and software do not register us by these terms.
Hopefully ALWIL Software and Avast! Antivirus can help change these Internatinal setting as one of the first software developers who has an resellers here in the Arctic.
