RMM enables Golden West Technologies to improve efficiency, reduce onboarding time, and gain new customers.
Golden West Technologies delivers managed security, infrastructure, wide-area networking, and unified communications services to small-to-medium businesses (SMBs) in western South Dakota. The Rapid City-based company serves a wide spectrum of industries, including state and local governments, banking, healthcare, education, mining, manufacturing, and Native American tribal organizations. “Our managed services focus gives us a geographic advantage,” explains Operations Manager Chris Brickey, “as we can remotely deliver a range of IT and security services to a broad mix of customers across the state without adding physical locations or new staff.”
The Golden West team manages and monitors more than 4,000 devices and 160 servers at customer sites throughout South Dakota. “A big challenge,” says Chris, “has been difficulties in deployment and trying to manage sites efficiently. Prior to working with the AVG-Avast team, our technicians were spending too many hours doing setup and not servicing our customers. We needed a simpler way to do our jobs.”
Chris and his team began using Managed Workplace in 2013, and they are continually finding new efficiencies. “We rely on Managed Workplace every day. It’s also one of the few RMM solutions on the market that is agentless, which offers even more advantages,” adds Chris.
With Managed Workplace, MSPs simply install the single onsite manager. It allows remote support of all device types within the customer network, eliminating the need for separate applications or agents to monitor and report across endpoints. Chris continues, “Managed Workplace is very easy to deploy and the RMM platform offers the features we need while still maintaining an easy-to-use interface. When a new device is added to the network, the scanning from the onsite manager, along with the auto-include rules, ensures that a device is covered without manual intervention.”
Chris is also looking forward to using Managed Workplace’s new security assessment. An addition to the RMM platform’s full capabilities, managed service providers can now generate a security score for any of their client sites and produce reports that indicate the actions needed to improve their security score. Adds Chris:
“We will be able to show clients where security risks exist in their networks and share reports that clearly show how our work is directly impacting their security scores. This will enable us to improve our customers’ security and also create services that generate new revenue streams for our business.”
Chris and his team thank Managed Workplace for many benefits. Here are just a few of the benefits gained:
“We can onboard 10 new servers in just a few hours, compared to a full day’s work previously,” says Chris, who recently signed a three-year renewal for Managed Workplace. “By effectively managing our customers’ networks, we are able to establish that track record of success that enables us to continually gain new customers. Managed Workplace gives us the tools to do our day-to-day-management.”
