Ukrainian Get avast! Free Antivirus or a „free“ upgrade with the Alureon rootkit
avast! Free Antivirus can be downloaded for free from our servers or from other download servers such as download.com, 01.fr and others. But why limit yourself to avast! Free Antivirus if there are other products available with additional functionality that can be downloaded for free?
At least, that is what some people are thinking.
Last week when I was checking files submitted as false positive alerts, l was looking to verify accurate, 100% detections. There were a few files named AIS (Avast Internet suite) from megaupload and uploading.com servers. Bad guys take our product, add an Alureon rootkit file (typically under the name codec.exe) and make new setup file with Nullsoft installer.
avast! detected this and put the infected files in the Virus Chest.
But, the story is not over. Some thieves are so cheeky, they reported this to us as a false positive. They should really be sending us a thank you note.
One advice to thieves: Be careful with what you are stealing. An active rootkit in your system is a hard task for any newly installed antivirus solution.

avast is a very good antivirus which I like most.One advice to crackers: stealing a software and giving to others is a crime and you are cheating the company.take this as a serious issue.

i want update for avast4.8 version
I have had only issues with users installing another instance of a virus protection software or going to another free vendor. Those few problems were due to me not explaining that the home version of this software is Free with registration. I know many of my customers have even upgraded just to make sure things will remain the same. So continue to do what you do and I will finish installing another edition Of Avast Home and then procede with registration so this pc is back to the customer.

I’ve 4 Pc’s in my workgroup infected by a virus (XP Antivirus). and it destroyed windows. I’d to reinstall a new copy of windows XP. I need to know what happened. and whether you fixed this problem or not yet. cause this virus damaged windows XP, no way but installing a new copy. I don’t want to start to loose trust in this great product.
