Free avast! 5 Chosen for Google Pack

As we get ready to launch our new Avast! Free Antivirus Version 5, we are proud to announce that Google has chosen this product for inclusion in Google Pack. Google Pack is a package of free software that Google assembles and distributes to its users around the world. Google Pack includes Avast for the following languages: French, German, Italian, Czech, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, and Polish.

The Avast Free Antivirus included in the Google Pack is the same as our regular Avast Free Antivirus. Following the philosophy of Google and Avast, the product is fully featured and does not constantly try to up-sell users to a premium product. The features of this product include:

1. Antivirus

2. Antispyware

3. Blocking of malicious websites

4. Blocking of hijacked or infected websites

5. Behavior blocking

6. Heuristics and signature detections

7. Scheduled, on-demand, and real time scanning

8. Gaming and full screen mode

In short, Avast Free Antivirus provides all of the protection most Internet users require. Install Google Pack with Avast Free Antivirus for any of these languages: FrenchGermanItalianCzechSpanishRussianPortuguese, and Polish.  To get google pack, just google “download google pack”.

    Hi Vince,

    But unfortunately this Google pack not available for south east asia especially for Indonesia rite?

    Well, we’ll see whether Google will touch Indonesia market?

    Anyway, just for your information that McAfee have engagement with Facebook, please link to : http://www.detikinet.com/read/2010/01/14/105858/1278171/323/facebook-bagi-bagi-software-anti-virus-gratis

    @Yanto Chiang

    Yes Mr Yanto,

    I think it is not yet ready for Indonesia. But this is a good start for all of us.

    congratulations with this extra distribution channel and publicity. It will be a good boost for Alwil.

    Though i am missing the English language in the list, isn’t there the biggest group (since it can then touch the Indonesian market too for example), or is that the standard language that always comes with the package?

    Hi Non,

    That’s way i already mentioned to Vince that for Asia Pacific or South East Asia don’t have this Google Pack cooperation yet.

    @Yanto Chiang
    Thanks Yanto. The McAfee and Facebook is just a marketing campaign. It is a 6-month trial (very similar to the 3 month trials that come with new computers). I think it is safe to assume that McAfee paid Facebook quite a bit of money.

  9. January 14th, 2010 at 14:31 | #9

    NICE! Now your deal with Google is working..
    Congrats!

    Hi Vincent,

    I was asking if it is possible for me to preview the message I post (similar to the forums) just in case I missed something… I usually find it easier to proof read the message as a preview, and I also like to check the links work.

    It would drive me crazy seeing a mistake I made…especially since we can’t edit…

    If it can’t be done, no bother…not massively important compared to your work :)

    @David

    I think, the default is a woman’s voice now…(can’t be too sure, don’t use the beta)

    Hi, I want to know about the script blocker and its purpose. Currently it is available only in avast 4.8 professional. Will it be available in free version of avast 5 and if not whether avast 5 free still protects against web based threats? Thanks

    @Vincent Steckler
    Well, I think Beta isn’t full, sorry finished, because it’s a Beta. So, I wanted to know, is this version (in the Google Pack) a Beta or a finished one? :)

  23. January 16th, 2010 at 22:53 | #26

    @Peter
    Peter, the beta is a full and complete product. And it is probably more “finished” than just about any product on the market…..
